Diamonds – Iconic, Versatile, and Timeless

The Horizon Aurora Delight Ring from B.P. de Silva’s Horizon Collection features a mix of Diamond cuts; with an Asscher-cut centre Diamond haloed by Round Brilliant Cut Diamonds. More Horizon Collection jewels, coming in September 2024.

Diamonds have historically been seen as symbols of love, commitment, and defining moments in life. They continue to be one of the most desirable gemstones, and one of the most wonderful things about Diamonds is their durability (a perfect 10 on the Moh’s Scale of hardness), and the plethora of choice when it comes to different characteristics: cut, clarity, colour, and carat weight, also known as the 4Cs.

In today’s post, we’ll focus on Diamond cuts. The cut(s) chosen also tell a story, and speak to different personalities or emotions.

The Round Brilliant Cut: A Love For The Classics

For many, the Round Brilliant Cut is the epitome of classic elegance. Its 58 facets are designed to reflect light from every angle, creating a brilliance that has captivated hearts for centuries. When you choose a round brilliant cut, you’re choosing a Diamond that mirrors the endless circle of love and commitment.

For those desiring reimagined classics, the Round Brilliant Cut also offers designers the breadth to explore forms. An example would be combining an Art Deco-inspired halo to a Round Diamond, and the overall aesthetic changes completely, just as we’ve done with our Pocketful of Gems Collection.
Diamond Earrings and Diamond Ring designs from B.P. de Silva's Pocketful of Gems Diamond Collection feature a geometric, octagonal halo.
