B.P. de Silva jewellery are crafted to last across generations, and in order to keep your jewels in their best condition, proper care for them, especially in between wearings, makes a world of difference. Here are some tips that will help safekeep your precious heirlooms:

Day to Day Care Tips for Solid Gold and Platinum Jewellery

Keep your jewellery in a clean, dry space. Store each one individually so there’s no chance for your jewels to catch, or scratch each other - jewellery trays with partitions are great for this!
Wipe your jewellery with your B.P. de Silva cloth after each wear, and occasionally clean them using a small brush with a diluted soap solution. Make sure to gently brush the undersides too. Then rinse with clean water and wipe dry with a soft, lint-free towel. Watch our video to see how simple and satisfying the process is.
Remove all jewellery before going to sleep; as well as before any sports, or physical activities.
Keep them away from chemicals like makeup, perfumes, and lotions as they may cause damage to precious metals or natural gemstones. We always say that putting your jewellery on last, helps them last.

Diamonds, Sapphires & Other Gemstones

We appreciate good jewellery styling - be it a bold ring stack, or the tasteful layering of necklaces but do take care when pairing your gems. For example, whilst Diamonds may be the hardest material in the world and are extremely durable, they may also potentially scratch the surfaces of other gemstones.

Pearl Jewellery

Pearls are more porous than other gemstones, and this organic quality means they require extra care. Some of our clients prefer to have their pearl jewellery professionally conditioned and restrung once a year.
