Colour Is Emotion

That is something that our Creative Director always shares whenever the B.P. de Silva team comes together for gemstone selection.

Different colours can bring forth different feelings for everyone, even if we are faced with the exact same colour, as we are all different. Our experiences and memories can be evoked through colour.

Someone wanting to propose may reach for deep blue hued Sapphires and Tanzanites because he met his partner by the sea. A creative soul may be drawn to vibrant green jewels like Emeralds and Tsavorites, something fresh, expressive, full of life. Each choice safekeeps a story, and perhaps the most beautiful part is that your choice is unique to you.

A jewellery specialist presents a curated selection of coloured gemstones, thoughtfully chosen to guide you through a personalised Customisation Suite journey.

Colour has always been emotional. We feel it before we think about it.

Blue: Calm and Grounding

As the colour of the sky and the ocean, blues often give a sense of calm, ease, and grounding. Like the feeling of being near water, or the quiet comfort of looking up at an endless sky.

Some are drawn to the depth of colour found in Sapphires. Others love the brightness of Aquamarines, whose softer shades catch the light like clear sea waters.

Green: Full of Life

It’s the colour of nature after rain, of fresh leaves, of places filled with sunlight and movement. Green gemstones carry that same freshness — vibrant, expressive and full of character.

Emeralds have long been adored for their richness and depth, while stones like Tsavorites and green Tourmalines bring brighter, lighter shades of green into jewellery. And maybe that’s the beauty of them. Green gemstones feel wonderfully individual, almost as though they reveal something slightly different in every person who wears them.

Red: The Colour of Passion and Love

Beyond romance, red hues also relay warmth, confidence and presence. Rubies, one of the most well known gemstones in the world, glow with unmistakable intensity, while red spinels and garnets offer a wide variation of reds.

Pink: Warm, Soft, Tender.

In jewellery, pink often feels inherently human: it suggests affection, tenderness, and connection, but also confidence when deepened into richer tones.

Morganites, Pink and Padparadscha Sapphires have a softness that feels effortless to wear close to heart. Many in the B.P. de Silva community find themselves wearing their pink jewels more due to their versatility.

Sunset: An Unmistakable Glow

In fine gemstones, this “sunset” tone feels alive with quiet movement — a shifting glow that changes with light, from peachy warmth to delicate salmon-pink. The colour is something wonderfully elusive: a natural harmony of fire and softness.

Padparadscha Sapphires, the queen of corundums, are incredibly rare, as they feature this alluring mix of hues within. Luminous and almost dreamlike in certain light.

Yellow: Light and Joyous

Yellow gemstones feel joyful in the most effortless way.

Like sunlight spilling across a room in the morning, they bring warmth and brightness with ease, and quite like no other colour.  Yellow Sapphires and Citrine, each carry their own kind of glow — sometimes soft and golden, sometimes vivid and luminous.

A warm expression of light — the Jazz Age Ardour Yellow Sapphire Ring, where golden tones capture a quiet sense of joy and timeless elegance.

People are often drawn to yellow when they want something uplifting. Beyond choosing a favourite colour, sometimes, the choice is based on a treasured sentiment they wish to relay.
